To help ASU achieve its Zero Waste goal, all Sun Devils should: 

  1. Consider how much they throw away on campus each day.

  2. Learn what is recyclable. If you are unsure, ask us

  3. Reduce and reuse as much as possible 

The ASU community teams with Zero Waste at all Tempe campus to divert waste. Each venue provides recycle and compost bins.

The Zero Waste department and Sun Devil Athletics endorse the think-before-you-throw approach at all campus athletic events. 

Sun Devils can help reduce game-day waste with purchase of a $25 reusable ZW souvenir cup. Cup sales begin at the start of the 2019 football season. Fans who purchase souvenir cups receive free refills日本一本道a不卡免费 at all sporting events held on the Tempe campus during the 2019 to 2020 school year.

ASU participates in several game-day challenges throughout athletic seasons:

  •  – Nationwide competition among universities that encourages recycling and waste reduction at football games
  •  – Universities compete to see which can boost recycling at basketball games
  •  – A recycling competition among Pac-12 schools during football and basketball seasons

    • Become a opportunities to learn and earn money for your organization. Zero Waste Ambassadors educate event attendees about proper recycling and waste disposal and get hands-on waste diversion experience at a variety of events

    • Boost your sustainability knowledge- take the Seeds of Sustainability course.
    • Earn a sustainability certification for your residence hall.
    • Follow ASU Zero Waste on and .
    • Volunteer with Zero Waste, find our opportunities on  or email us about Zero Waste volunteer opportunities.
    • Ensure your residence hall has recycling signs and labels
    • Participate in the commingled recycling program.
    Reducing and Reusing 
    • Build your own ZW lunch kit with reusable items.
    • Invite us to your next student organization meeting to discuss tips.
    • Participate in Ditch the Dumpster.
    • Purchase new to you items from ASU Surplus Property.
    • Purchase supplies made of post-consumer waste recycled materials.
    • Use a reusable cup at a water bottle filling station, or fill up your reusable cup for 99¢ with coffee, tea or soda at the On-Campus Markets.
    1. ENTRY: Game ticket holders may enter to win. Contestants enter by submitting photos and/or video through their personal Sanpchat accounts from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.on September 21, 2019.
    2. ELIGIBILITY: This contest is open to all Sanpchat account holders in attendance at the Game who are not employees of ASU’s Department of Sun Devil Athletics or an immediate family member (spouse, parent, sibling, child) of any employee of Sun Devil Athletics.  Prospective and enrolled student-athletes, as those terms are defined by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, are not eligible to enter.
    3. WINNER SELECTION: Contestants enter by (1) using the Green Game ASU Snapchat filter on a photo or video of themselves doing a sustainability behavior (i.e. recycling, biking, using public transportation, using a refillable water bottle, etc.) and uploading it to the ASU story (2) visiting the University Sustainability Practices or Zero Waste table at tailgating to show a staff member their footage with the filter and provide their phone number. The twenty contestants who successfully enter the contest within the timeframe indicated in these Offical Rules will win the prize.
    4. WINNER NOTIFICATION: Contestants must have a profile created on Sanpchat. The twenty winners will be notified via text message following the contest end on September 21, 2019 post halftime. Inability to contact a winner may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
    5. USE OF CONTEST INFORMATION: All entries become ASU property. ASU reserves the right to use all information related to the contest, including submissions provided by the contestants, for editorial, marketing and any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.  By entering the contest, whether or not contestant wins a prize in the contest, each contestant grants to ASU the right to the use of his or her name, likeness or photograph without compensation or further authorization in any publicity or for promotional purposes carried out by ASU. 
    6. CONDUCT: All contestants agree to be bound by these Official Rules. ASU in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any person it finds to be tampering with the entry process, or is otherwise in violation of these Official Rules.
    7. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: ASU is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur. If for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort, ASU may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. By entering, each contestant agrees to follow these Official Rules and agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the Arizona Board of Regents, ASU, Sun Devil Athletics and each of their respective officers, employees and agents against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), with respect to or arising out of either (i) the contest, including contestant’s participation and ASU’s administration of the contest; or (ii) the receipt or use of the prize awarded in the contest.

    ASU reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value and/or to terminate, modify or withdraw this contest, in whole or in part (including altering the manner in which the prize is distributed), at any time and without prior notice, for any reason including, but not limited to, the delay or cancellation of the Game, or, if viruses, bugs, tampering or other causes beyond ASU’s control affect the administration, security, fairness or proper play or conduct of the contest.
